The DWTS video shows how Christie Brinkley breaks her arm before the daughter delights as a dancer

“Dancing With the Stars” started on Monday with an unfortunate revelation – 65-year-old supermodel Christie Brinkley broke his arm during rehearsals – but ended in a triumphant reaction as daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook made an impressive performance for her Mother gave up.

Brinkley’s introduction showed that she is working with Pro Valentin Chmerkovskiy, and they are both practicing their first dance on “Uptown Girl,” the 1983 hit by ex-husband Billy Joel, in which Brinkley appeared in the music video.

An ABC video clip showed the two rehearsals five days before the premiere on Monday, when Brinkley stumbled against her partner’s foot and fell to the ground, breaking his arm.

“My arm, my arm, my arm!” Brinkley grimaced as Chmerkovskiy supported him. “I think I broke my arm, I swear to God.”

After just three days of training, Brinkley-Cook, wearing a white ball gown, joined Chmerkovskiy for a stylish fox trot to “Uptown Girl”. Immediately after the dance, the younger woman entered the audience in an emotional embrace with her mother wearing a red dress and a beige plaster on her right forearm.

With a whiny Brinkley, who came to her daughter and Chmerkovskiy on set, the judges praised the 21-year-old especially in the circumstances.

“I’m overwhelmed,” said Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, telling Chmerkovskiy he has “a gold mine” with potential at Brinkley-Cook. “Mom, what do you think? Christie, you have to be so proud.”

“I’m so proud of her, so proud,” Brinkley replied.

Judge Len Goodman praised Brinkley-Cook’s “nice move” before criticizing the performance as “a bit squat” and saying to the couple, “They needed a bit more body contact.”

When the audience expressed his displeasure, Goodman replied, “What should I do, just ignore it?” He then said that they had time to remedy any shortcomings. “These are all things that you’ll overcome with a bit more practice, but for three days, at the last minute, you’ve done a wonderful job.”

Before assessing the performance Judge Bruno Tonioli commented on the similarity between mother and daughter. “You look like twins!” He looks forward to more Brinkley Cook dances: “I can not wait to see what you can do with the right rehearsal time.”

And while Brinkley smiled onstage just days after her accident, the break was pretty serious, she told host Tom Bergeron.

“It was, the doctor said, one of the worst fractures he had ever seen, I managed to break both bones,” she said. “They had to cut it open and put in a metal plate and a few screws.”

Brinkley then found some comfort: “Well, I am now a bionic woman!”
